Our story

Santune Meadows Ltd – an Introduction

Following the deaths of my late father and mother, who passed away in 2019 and 2020 respectively, we found that there was a worrying shortage for people within our community and the surrounding areas, to lay their loved ones to rest.

Thus, a seed planted and Santune Meadows was born. We have spent the last 3 years, planting in excess of 300 trees and many meters of new hedgerow. Ecological bird boxes have been situated around the burial site. We have a natural pond within the grounds, where we have resident moorhens and ducks. Stunning, brightly coloured dragonfly's, beautiful water lily's and many other flora and fauna are a delight to see. We have created a peaceful, natural environment to provide a perfect setting to enable loved ones to return to the earth naturally, with little or no impact on the surrounding eco system.

Whilst we had hoped to wait until we gained permission to include coffin burials, we are still in the planning process, awaiting a response from the Environmental Agency, following over 12 months of ground investigations, having worked with an excellent team of consultants. We hope to receive a positive decision soon, as this will provide a further important option for our community.

Following numerous enquiries from within the community and surrounding areas, asking when we would be opening, we took the decision to open the burial site for cremated ashes interments at the beginning of July 2023.

We have a beautiful woodland area, with many species of tree's  for the purpose of cremated ashes interments only, plots in this area, can be chosen either directly beneath one of the memorial trees or amongst the trees, this area is known as ‘Woodland Grove’.

There is also a wildflower area for the interment of children under the age of 16 and babies.

The area for coffin burial, which should be available at a later date, subject to the planning approval, will be known as ‘Sundown Meadow’.

We have created a final resting place for loved ones, sympathetic to the beauty of nature, there are winding pathways, with benches in selected places, for relatives and friends to sit in peace and reflect. This is set in 8 acres and within the grounds, there is plentiful parking for visiting friends and relatives of loved ones laid to rest.

Also, within the grounds, there is an amenity building, which provides both a covered outside area and also an indoor area, for people to congregate. The building also houses a toilet, providing access via a ramp and with disabled facilities within the toilet.

As this is a natural burial site, all urns, potential future coffins, floral tributes etc, must not contain any plastic, metal, oasis foam or wire, all materials must be biodegradable.

All graves are marked with a sandstone memorial stone, supplied through Santune Meadows, which lies level with the top of the ground, therefore sympathetically blending in with the natural environment.
